Downtown Foot Patrol - In response to concerns being raised by downtown businesses, the Police Department initiated an increased presence in the area this week.  Enforcement staff will take to walking daily foot patrols and reaching out to business to identify problem issues.  Much of our effort will be directed toward better communications and outreach with the business owners in order to address their concerns and identify specific problems.  The program will be evaluated in several weeks to determine the effectiveness.

2012 Children’s Holiday Palette Exhibition - The Arts Commission is currently accepting designs for the annual Children’s Palette exhibition. Designs will be accepted from children ages 5 to 17 who reside in Laguna Beach, attend school in town, or participate in local art programs. The deadline to submit a design is Noon on Monday, November 19, 2012. The Arts Commission will select up to 12 designs which will be mounted on wooden palettes and displayed at City Hall from November 30, 2012 through January 4, 2013. Rotary Club’s Annual Classic Car Show - On Sunday, October 7, the Forest/Laguna Canyon Road parking lot (FLC lot) will be closed from 5:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for the Laguna Beach Rotary Club’s annual Classic Car Show.

Storm Drain Cleaning - City crews clean City drainage systems twice a year, typically in the Spring and Fall. Crews will spend the next eight weeks cleaning over 900 drain inlets and will clean over five miles of storm drain lines.

The 55th Annual City of Laguna Beach Tennis Tournament - The City’s annual tennis tournament will take place October 26-28 at the Laguna Beach High School and Alta Laguna Park tennis courts. Registration is $30 for singles and $35 for each doubles team.  Register at the Community Services Building or online at www.lagunabeachcity.net.
