Get Out: What To Do This Weekend In Laguna Beach

Find holiday treasures at a great price, listen to some nostalgic Christmas tunes, educate yourself about AIDS, and watch a tree lighting at the beach.


WHERE/WHEN:  Behind the A.L. thrift shop (at 526 Gleneyre) and across the alley (Goff), from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 30 and from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1.

WHY GO?  When the Assistance League receives donated holiday items throughout the year, it tucks away the treasures in the "garage." Then, by December, there is a vast collection of wonderful holiday items to choose from...toys, strands of lights, decorations...you name it. Fabulous Christmas goodies are available at fabulous prices. WHERE/WHEN: Crystal Cove Historic District, from 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1. 

WHY GO? Learn how to wrap sea glass with wire, purchase fine art paintings, chat with Santa Claus, taste a hot beverage by the sea and watch the tree lighting. For more information, CLICK HERE or phone 949-376-6200.

PRICE:  Parking for the Tree Lighting Ceremony is located at Los Trancos parking lot on the east side of Coast Highway. State Parks will waive the $15 parking fee for the Saturday event only beginning at 3 p.m. Shuttle service is $1 each way.



WHERE/WHEN:  LBHS North Gym at 625 Park Avenue, 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1.

WHY GO? Taste some yummy soup and fresh bread provided by Ladle of Newport Beach and Panera of Aliso Viejo. Purchase creations made by local artists and merchants. Buy some baked goods donated by LBHS parents. Listen to holiday music provided by the LBHS string ensemble and the Top of the World/El Morro Honor Chorus. WHERE/WHEN: Main Beach from 11 a.m.- 3 p.m. and a candlelight remembrance at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1.

WHY GO?  The theme this year is "Getting to Zero: Zero new infections. Zero discrimination.  Zero AIDS related deaths."  Anonymous HIV testing and counseling will be available along with educational information. AIDS Services Foundation, Laguna Beach Shanti and Laguna Beach Community Clinic will be on hand to answer any questions you might have. This is also a day to reflect and remember. WHERE/WHEN:  Laguna Playhouse at 606 Laguna Canyon Road, now through December 23. Showtimes vary.
