Glenneyre Parking Garage Gets Rehab

Glenneyre Parking Structure Rehabilitation - Renovation of the Glenneyre Parking Structure is scheduled to begin in one week. The work is intended to strengthen the structure with installation of a new shear wall and fiber wrapping of the support columns. Public Notices have been distributed to the businesses and residents surrounding the Parking Structure to inform them of the upcoming project. The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of May. The contractor will be allowed up to five parking spaces for staging of equipment and tools. There will be occasional closures of the alley and lane closures on Glenneyre. However, trash pick- up service and deliveries will not be interrupted.

55+ Art Exhibit - The City of Laguna Beach in partnership with Laguna Beach Seniors, Inc. announces the 2012 55+ Art Exhibit where art work will be on display to the public from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, March 12 through May 11 at the Community and Susi Q Senior Center. The public is welcome to vote for their favorites in these categories: “The Painting I Would Most Like To Own,”, “The Painting That Belongs In A Museum”, and “The Most Off The Wall/On The Wall”. Awards will be presented at the Artists’ Reception at the Gallery Q on Thursday, March 29 at 6:30 p.m.

DUI Patrols St. Patrick’s Day weekend - The Police Department will have increased staffing during the St. Patrick’s Day weekend, March 16 – 18, to target drinking drivers.  In cooperation with the Office of Traffic Safety and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, grant funded patrols will be increased countywide under the AVOID the 26 DUI suppression grant.

Art That’s Small at City Hall - The Arts Commission will be accepting submissions for the 10th annual Art That’s Small at City Hall on Saturday March 17, 2012 from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. Works must be 12” or smaller by artists residing in Orange County. Submissions will be juried by Mike Tauber (Art That’s Small founder); Malcolm Warner (Executive Director Laguna Art Museum); and Dora Wexell (President First Thursdays Art Walk). A reception and awards ceremony will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at 5 p.m. This is a program has been funded by the lodging establishments and City of Laguna Beach.

Assistant To City Manager/Director Of Community Services Reception Event - For those of you that worked or interacted with Susan Cannan please join us on Tuesday, March 27, from 5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. at the Susi Q to bid her farewell.  After a 32-year career in local government working in the cities of Laguna Beach, Irvine, Poway and Cerritos Susan’s last day before retiring will be Friday, March 30.  For Laguna Beach, Susan has worked in the Administrative Services Department and in her present position of Assistant to the City Manager/Director of Community Services.  You will also have the opportunity to meet her successor, Benjamin Siegel, a resident of Laguna Beach since 2007. Ben has a broad range of experience in local government, and has served as the Assistant to the City Manager in Lake Forest for the past five years.
