Annika Dries, who won a gold medal in London a few weeks ago as part of the women's Olympic water polo team, will be lauded by the city in a September 1 event slated to take place at the same pool where she learned her skills—the Laguna Beach High School and Community Pool at 670 Park Ave.
Mayor Jane Egly will present Dries with a city council proclamation commemorating her accomplishment. This will also be a community swim, and residents are being encouraged to bring their swim suits and towels. Admission to the pool will be free.
The event is scheduled from 2-4 p.m.
