Watch: New Laguna Beach Park is a Space to Chill Out Among the Cacti

A spiffy new view park was dedicated Thursday afternoon in the 2400 block of the appropriately-named Park Avenue.

Mayor Jane Egly, council member Verna Rollinger, and several other city officials were on hand to cut the ribbon on what had previously been two city-owned land parcels that "had gotten a little derelict," said Egly.

The park, which cost $65,000 to build, had been dreamed of since Ken Frank was the Laguna Beach city manager, according to public works director Steve May.

The park features drought-resistant water-wise plants, as well as boulders that were dug out of North Laguna Beach, and cactus plants that were taken from Riddle Field, according to Bob Borthwick, the park's landscape architect.
