Tonight's Flamin' Hot Laguna Beach City Council Meeting Agenda!
At tonight's (June 18) meeting, the Laguna Beach City Council is expected to, among other things:
- Vote on whether to oppose the state South Coast Air Quality Management District's controversial plan to ban and remove beach fire rings within 700 feet of homes, and authorize Mayor Kelly Boyd to send a letter to the SCAQMD supporting local control on the matter. While there are no fire rings allowed on city-controlled property, there are at the state-run Aliso Beach and private beaches like Three Arch Bay and Irvine Cove. The fire ring issue has kicked up lively debates in Newport Beach, which wants to remove them, and Huntington Beach and San Clemente, which want to keep them.
- Vote on what kinds of trees to replace the ones recently removed from downtown. Tristania conferta? Metrosideros excelsa? When did trees learn Latin? Or is that Greek?
The Fab Five meet at 6 p.m. in council chambers at City Hall, 505 Forest Ave. Click here to view the complete agenda and click here to watch the meeting live on the Internet.
