Main Beach Lift Station Update - Beginning today the contractor will be closing the Coast Highway southbound slow lane from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for approximately two weeks.  The closure will allow the removal of the sidewalk between the new lift station and the south easterly corner of the Inn at Laguna which is necessary to install sewer pipes from the new lift station to the existing system.  During the lane closures, the sidewalk will be closed and pedestrians will be routed between the Inn at Laguna and the Lifeguard Headquarters.   The sidewalk will be open during the evenings and weekends.

Diamond/Crestview Guard Railing Construction - Construction of road edgeway protection at sixteen locations throughout the Diamond/Crestview neighborhood will be completed this week.  The work consisted of installing guard railing, asphalt curbing, replacing existing pieces of damaged guard railing, and minor paving. The guard railing is made of weathering steel, which exhibits increased resistance to corrosion compared to other steels because it forms a protective layer on its surface under the influence of the weather.  The rust-colored protective layer also provides a more rustic look than typical steel guard railings.

Electronic Fire Safety Inspections - The Fire Department recently implemented a new fire safety software program permitting fire safety inspection information to be collected in the field utilizing iPads.  This use of technology will improve productivity and records management while moving to a primarily paperless system.  The majority of customers will receive the fire safety inspection by e-mail; those that do not have an e-mail address and wish to receive a paper copy of the inspection may do so.  Questions regarding the new program should be directed to Division Chief Tom Christopher at 949-497-0700.

Wood Chips Installed at Parks - In preparation for increased summertime playground use, 150 cubic yards of fresh engineered wood fiber has been installed at Bluebird Park, Lang Park and Village Green Park. This material provides accessibility and safety.
