Video: Meet Your New Laguna Beach Assistant City Manager

Christa Johnson starts her job Sept. 6.

After several months of searching, Laguna Beach finally has a new assistant city manager to fill the vacancy left by John Pietig, who was bumped up to the top job following the retirement of Ken Frank in December.

Christa Johnson, who has been the assistant town manager for the Northern California city of Windsor, will start Sept. 6. She has more than 15 years of experience working in local government, including stints in the city and county of Alameda.

Johnson is experienced in economic development and working to attract and retain businesses. She holds degrees in public administration and political science. Johnson and her husband, Carl, have two children.

Her appointment completes a change of personnel in the city manager’s office over the past year that reduces salaries in the department by more than $50,000.
