Another Laguna Beach Unified Administrator Resigns

A second Laguna Beach Unified School District administrator has resigned in the wake of the controversy swirling around the hiring practices of Superintendent Sherine Smith.

Gerald Vlasic, the district’s Director of Human Resources and Public Communications, left his position effective July 1, it was revealed. The board approved his resignation Tuesday during a closed-door meeting.

Previously, Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services Deni Christensen announced her resignation July 1. Her last day on the job will be July 19.

Both Vlasic and Christensen were colleagues of LBUSD Supe Sherine Smith when she was employed by the Capistrano Unified School District. Parents and residents have accused Smith of hiring cronyism.
