End of the Line for the Breakers

The Laguna Beach High football team falls to Garden Grove, 35-21.

The Laguna Beach High football Breakers lost their first game of the season Friday night against Garden Grove, 35-21.

But there won't be any bounce-back from this defeat—in a repeat of last year, this loss knocked the Breakers out of the playoffs just one win shy of a chance to play for the CIF-SS Southern Division Championship.

Garden Grove moves on to face Corona del Mar next Saturday, Dec. 1, at Angel Stadium for the big prize. Corona del Mar stopped the Breakers in the semis last year.

The Breakers wrapped up the season with a record of 11-1-1, the most wins of any team in LBHS football history. They also achieved only the fourth undefeated regular season in the program's history, which should be some consolation.

Patch will have more coverage up of the Garden Grove game shortly, but for now, you can read a full report of the game at OCVarsity.com.
