Make It Work! Montage Fashion Show Draws a Fabulously Frocked Crowd

Firebrand Media hosted Fashion Laguna Style at the resort by the sea. The event benefited SchoolPower.

In a courtyard at Montage Laguna Beach on Friday evening, spotlights dramatically lit up fashion models who stood on raised platforms. Guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d'ouevres while strolling around and chatting with the models at Fashion Laguna Style, sponsored by Firebrand Media.

Local Laguna Beach businesses and other retailers donated items for the silent auction. Proceeds from the auction go to SchoolPower, a non-profit organization that benefits Laguna Beach public schools.

Later in the evening, guests would see a runway fashion show featuring designs from La Perla and Saks Fifth Avenue, with jewelry by Mikimoto.

Firebrand Chairman and Laguna Beach resident Allan Simon said, "South Coast Plaza and the Montage are both prestige companies, so we put this event together at our own initiative. We just knew it would be a success and we have lots and lots of [auction items] here for SchoolPower. We should raise about $20,000 for them, I hope."

"This is our first fashion show event," said Firebrand Creative Director Tracy Powell. "SchoolPower is receiving 100% of the funds raised by the silent auction."

Newport Beach resident Ollie Hill attended the event. "I wanted to see a great fashion show and also I'm very happy because it's a fundraiser," she said.

"I thought this would be a fun thing to do," said attendee Joan Stevens. "We love fashion shows, especially when they're well-done and it looks like they're going to do a good job. The models are gorgeous."

Artworks were on display at the event as well.
