Laguna Beach Breakers Can Make History Tonight Against Garden Grove

A win Friday will put the football team into the championship game next week at Angel Stadium.

The Laguna Beach High football team is on the cusp of doing something few other Breakers—or Artists—teams have done in the long history of the school: play for a CIF Southern Section championship.

To do that, they'll need to get past Garden Grove High in tonight's game, also at Garden Grove. Game time is 7 p.m., with the winner going on to face the victor of the Corona del Mar-Woodbridge clash, also being played out tonight.

"To do something that no other football team at this school has done before, is something these players have a lot to be proud of," Laguna Coach Mike Churchill told the Coastline Pilot's Mike Sciacca.
