Laguna Beach High Eagle Scouts Honored in Sunday Ceremony

The Eagle award is the highest honor within the Boy Scouts of America. A crowd of 150 attended the ceremony on Sunday.

Troop 38 Honors Eight Eagle Scouts

Eight young men have joined the ranks of earning their Eagle Scout award from the Boy Scouts of America.  The Eagle award is the highest honor within the organization.  All eight are members of Troop 38 as well as attendees of Laguna Beach High School where they are involved in school government to sports.

The awards ceremony took place on Sunday, September 23 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located on Park Avenue.  A crowd of 150 attended the ceremony, which included Mayor Egly, who spoke about the valuable service that these Scouts have provided to the community of Laguna Beach.  Scott McKean, the El Camino Real District commissioner, gave the Eagle Charge and counseled the recipients to “let their light shine as if it were a beacon on a hill.”

The evening was capped off by those in attendance viewing displays of each Eagle Scouts project along with their other scholastic and athletic accomplishments.  The eight recipients are Trenton Caserio, Cole Kesler, Michael Kimball and his cousin Mitchell Kimball, Cristian Menes, James Micheli, Noah Olsen and his brother Wesley Olsen.

Trenton: Built a soccer storage shed for the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) and the City of Laguna Beach at Moulton Meadows Park.

Cole: Built two ball carts for TLC so they could hold various sports balls, jump ropes, hula hoops and other play equipment. 

Michael: Built two picnic tables for the TLC Branch of the Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach. They will be used for eating and art instruction.

Mitchell: Built a soccer storage shed for the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) and the City of Laguna Beach at Alta Laguna Park.

Cristian: Created a removable sandbox cover with handles, made of a light-weight yet durable product, for the Boys and Girls Club.

James: Built two picnic tables at The Boys & Girls Club. The tables are a functional addition to the patio and add additional outdoor furnishings.

Noah: Built two picnic tables for TLC. The tables will provide eating space for 20 and be used for arts and craft projects.

Wesley: Built a soccer storage shed for the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) and the city of Laguna Beach at Fred Lang Park.
