Laguna Beach High School's College Roundup is a Very Huge Deal

And it's coming up quick on October 10.

Story submitted by Laguna Beach Unified School District:

Laguna Beach High School is one of the smallest public high schools in Orange County, however the annual LBHS College Round Up is a big event. More than 100 colleges, universities, military institutions, and test prep companies from around the country are sending representatives to this highly anticipated event, which is hosted by LBHS in conjunction with the LBHS PTA.

College Round Up is a cost effective opportunity for students to explore postsecondary educational options before visiting college campuses.

LBHS counselor David Reska remarks, “College Round Up has a direct impact on where students choose to apply.  I know two students last year who applied to DePaul University in Chicago based on their conversations with the representative they met at College Round Up.”

LBHS Counselor Nichole Rosa highlights some of the benefits of attending, “College Round Up is a great opportunity for parents and students to meet directly with college representatives in a casual format to get answers to questions, such as majors offered on campus, or the college culture in general. Not only do students have the opportunity to learn firsthand about the college, but they get to network as well. Oftentimes, the representative for our local area is also the first reader on the student’s application. A face-to-face interaction with a college representative can put a face with an otherwise unknown name on an application. In addition, College Round Up exposes students to many colleges that they may not have previously considered and opens the door to other possible great college matches for the student, which could in turn end up being the student’s number one choice.”

College representatives are available to answer questions about admission requirements, availability of on-campus housing, areas of study, athletics, scholarships, financial aid and much, much more.

The school’s counseling team organizes College Round Up. LBHS Counselor Angela Pilon explains, “This year we are delighted to welcome Revolution Test Prep to our College Round Up schedule of events.  On Wednesday, October 10, Revolution Test Prep will host a Financial Aid Workshop in the Artists’ Theatre from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Financing the cost of an education can be a deciding factor in the college selection process and we want to ensure that our community is well versed and knowledgeable about the qualifications and resources available.”

LBHS Counseling Secretary Rosalie Triggs expresses her appreciation for the school’s PTA, which is an important contributor to College Round Up, “PTA has been awesome to us over the years! They support the event with funding for tables, food and beverage for the College Round Up representatives.”

The October 10th LBHS College Round Up schedule of events are as follows:

  • 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Financial Aid Workshop for parents and students hosted by Revolution Test Prep in the Artists’ Theatre.
  • 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. College Round Up in the Dugger Gym.

For those rude Pro. Photographers that think they own the beach and demand you get out of their shotRead More you can call Jim Barris 464-6669 or the non emergency (911) (949) 497-0701. I called the city and found this out after a photographer kicked my dog for being in "his" shot.
