The Laguna Beach High School Surf Team continued on their winning ways in the Scholastic Surf Series event last Sunday, March 3, at Golden West St. in Huntington Beach.

At this event, Laguna had a bye in the team competition, and once into the individual competition in each of the divisions, we pretty much stole the show.

The surf had some size and power and was definitely challenging, but the Laguna crew handled it very nicely.

Many of our surfers do double duty between divisions. Blair Conklin is one of those, he has been unstoppable in the Body Board finals, winning each of the events this season. This week was no exception, and he also ripped the Shortboard competition, being awarded first place in that too.

In the short board, Blair was followed in second by Cameron Zuziak, who found a cover-up that helped him score well.

Eric Siegrist has been surfing really well for Laguna in the Longboard competition, and here he was able to get a shot at both the Shortboard and Longboard competition, finishing in an outstanding 3rd place in Shortboard and a 5th in Longboard.

Meanwhile, our dual Shortboard and Longboard surfers, Cameron DePfyffer and Tobie Grierson, were both extremely solid all event. Cam won the Longboard, followed by Tobie in 2nd, while Tobie was 5th in the shortboard and Cam was 6th.

Our lone girl Coco Putnum once again put in a huge effort in both the Shortboard and Longboard divisions. She had to battle a strong current and lots of close-out sets, but in the end, her efforts were well-rewarded, as she came in first in the shortboard and 2nd in the longboard!

It has been so much fun to see our team thrive in these fun events, we are proud of you all.

The next Scholastic Surf Series event will take place Saturday, April 13, at Oceanside Harbor.

Thank you all for your big effort and support!

I have attached a few photos of Blair Conklin.
