LBHS Sports Update: Baseball, Softball, Volleyball, Tennis and Golf

And swimming! And track! Can't forget those ...

The Laguna Beach High School sports teams are nearing the end of their seasons.

The baseball team has had a wildly successful campaign, winning the Orange Coast League title this past Tuesday by trouncing Godinez, 23-2. On Friday, they picked up their 19th win in a row, topping Godinez again, 7-3.

The team has a real shot at finishing with a 25-2 record going into the last two games of the year this week: Tuesday against Costa Mesa at LBHS at 3:15 p.m., and Thursday at Costa Mesa.

Meanwhile, the softball team improved to a record of 8-18 with a 6-5 win over Estancia on Tuesday, but the thrill was short-lived, as the squad was then shut out by Calvary Chapel, 10-0, on Thursday. Despite the losing record, the Breakers still have a shot at a playoff berth, but games next week against Godinez (Tuesday) and Costa Mesa (Thursday, 4 p.m., at Thurston Middle School) will determine their fate.
