LBHS Tennis: Breakers Break Through First Round of CIF Team Playoffs

The Breakers, led by Coach Don Davis, defeated Northwood High School of Irvine Thursday on the Breakers home courts with a final score of 11-6.

The tennis was very competitive with the final decision going down to the last two matches of the third round of play.  The Breakers played strong in both singles winning 6 of the 9 sets played and doubles winning 5 of the 9 doubles sets played.  Every Breaker contributed to the first round win.

Sweeps came from the Orange Coast League Champions # 1 Singles - Lauren Michaels (6-1, 6-1, 6-0) and # 1 Doubles - Brooke Michaels and Kira Hamilton (7-6, 7-5, 7-5).

At # 2 Singles, Claire Jaeger won two of her three matches in dominant form loosing only to the Northwood #2 Ch Pham in a very close match (5-7, 6-2, 6-1).  #3 Singles Stephanie Tat held her ground against the Northwood #3 winning one of her three battles (6-3, 0-6, 0-6).

Doubles #2 Chloe Mansour and Katelyn Bo pulled off one victory against Northwood #1 losing the other two very competitive sets (6-1, 5-7, 3-6).  The win was decided in the third round when #3 Doubles Sarah Nederlander and Bailey Jaeger beat Northwood #1. (6-2, 4-6, 1-6).

Great day on the courts for the Breakers as they advance to round two on Saturday, November 12th scheduled for 2 pm.  Attempts will be made to have an earlier start time to avoid the early nightfall.  Breakers will face either the #2 seed Peninsula High School on the Breakers home court or Capistrano Valley High School at Capistrano, depending on the days results.
