LBUSD to Offer Drop-In Parenting Classes

The series of monthly drop-in parenting classes begin Nov. 19.

Parents who need extra support are encouraged to attend the Laguna Beach Unified School District's new drop-in parenting classes beginning next week, school district officials announced.

The monthly parenting classes start on Tuesday, Nov. 19 for Laguna Beach parents with children enrolled in grades 3-12. The classes, led by Marriage and Family Therapist Laura Rivas, will give parents a chance to interact with other parents and learn problem-solving techniques for parent and child difficulties, according to district officials.

“As a parent myself, I struggle with everyday decisions regarding what I will allow my sons to do and not to do," Irene White, the district's director of Special Education and Student Services, explained. "I have always relied on others who have raised successful, healthy, well adjusted kids to learn the trade secrets."

The drop-in parenting classes will be held from 6:30 - 8 p.m. at the Susi Q Senior Center, located at 380 Third Street in Laguna Beach.
