Thursday Shopping at Whole Foods Will Aid Laguna Beach Schools

Five percent of all sales will go to SchoolPower for the grocery chain's Community Support Day.

Submitted by Whole Foods Laguna Beach:

The Laguna Beach Whole Foods Market at 283 Broadway will be donating five percent of all sales on Thursday, April 11, to SchoolPower.

Since 1981, SchoolPower has fundraised on behalf of the Laguna Beach Unified School District’s [LBUSD] four public schools – El Morro Elementary School, Top of the World Elementary School, Thurston Middle School and Laguna Beach High School -- and provided millions of dollars for teacher innovation, academics, the arts, athletics, and technology. SchoolPower aims to support LBUSD’s goal to realize the dream of a world-class public education.

In recognition of Earth Month, the day will also feature an ‘after-school’ seed-bomb-making kid’s event at the store from 2:30-4:30pm. Seed bombs are made from a mixture of clay, compost, and hundreds of seeds. They can be tossed into the forgotten patches of our neighborhoods or yards and grow into miniature gardens.

Whole Foods Market stores nationwide hold Community Support Day throughout the year and donates five percent of that day’s net sales to a local non-profit or educational organization whose programs directly benefit the communities surrounding our stores.
