Laguna Beach Wave Check: Friday

Plenty of playful waves.

Waking up with the waves on Friday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Laguna Beach Patch surf report. Well, if you're getting an early start to your weekend, then get out there and grab some of the action. Yep, there's plenty of playful-size waves with some larger sets.

The conditions are starting off fairly clean, but look out for the possibility of the southerly winds to pick up in the morning. Taking a look at the waves ... we have a mostly decent-sized southwest swell and not much northwest windswell to speak of.

That recipe is making for some fast semi-wally lines, with some good lined-up lefts. Most spots in Laguna Beach are running about knee- to chest-high, with the top south-facing breaks pulling shoulder-high waves, with some larger sets.

Checking the tides ... at 10:14 later this morning, it drops to a 1.9 low and then climbs back up to a 4.8 high at 5:19 this evening. If you're going to grab a session, throw on no more than a thin fullsuit with the water temperature hanging between 62 and 64 degrees. Have fun out there!
