Laguna Beach Wave Check: Monday

Great day for a paddle!

Waking up with the waves on Monday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Laguna Beach Patch Fourth of July surf report. Well, you're not going to find much in the way of waves, but you'll find many more people in the water thanks to the holiday!

The conditions are starting off nice and clean from the start. As far as the surf goes ... we have some mostly minor northwest windswell and some minimal south southwest energy in the water.

That recipe is offering some weak little lines, with a few workable shoulders on a log or an SUP. Most spots in Laguna Beach are seeing knee high waves, with the focal points pulling some thigh to waist high sets.

Taking a look at the tides ... at 6:14 this morning it drained out to a negative 0.7 low, which will have many spots lacking water early on. The tide then pushes back up to a 4.4 high at 12:51 this afternoon and then drops again to a 2.1 low at 6:01 this evening.

If you're going to grab a salt water bath, throw on a short sleeve fullsuit or possibly even a spring suit with the water temperature averaging between 63 and 65 degrees. Good luck out there!
