We had our first big win on Sunday at the Scholastic Surf Series Event at San Clemente Pier.

We started out the day with Team competition and Laguna Beach High school was up against Point Loma High School. Everyone surfed really well as a team and we took the overall win. We had nearly the entire team advance into the individual competition. The surf was pretty good in the 3ft range with nice sunny weather, although as the day went on the surf got much tougher with a minus tide. When the day came to a close we had three surfers who made it all the way to the Final of individuals, while several others had some great heats before getting knocked out.

The top Finalist for LBHS was Ryan Meisberger who led the way with a 3rd place finish overall in the Bodyboard division. Meanwhile in the Girls Longboard Marlee Grosher once again surfed really well winning several of her heats along the way, but in the Finals finished 5th, while Cayla Henderson also did really great to make her first Final, finishing in 6th overall.

Meanwhile in Boys Shortboard Cameron DePyffer, surfed really strong making several heats along with Dylan Davis. Tobie Grierson, Zach Levine, and Cam Zuziak also did well advancing out of the first rd. In Boys Longboard Wesley Eagleton had a very good showing making it to the semi-finals while Ryan Meisberger also did well winning his first rd LB ht. In the Girls short board, Coco Putnam surfed strong and advanced through several hts just falling shy right before the final.

The next and final Scholastic Surf Series event for the season will be Feb 9 at Oceanside Pier.
