LBHS Surf Takes 'Big Win' Over Point Loma

The Scholastic Surf Series Event took place Sunday at the San Clemente Pier.

Editor's note: The following information was submitted by Laguna Beach High School coaches Alisa Cairns and Scott Finn.

We had our first big win on Sunday at the Scholastic Surf Series Event at San Clemente Pier.

We started out the day with Team competition and Laguna Beach High school was up against Point Loma High School. Everyone surfed really well as a team and we took the overall win. We had nearly the entire team advance into the individual competition. The surf was pretty good in the 3ft range with nice sunny weather, although as the day went on the surf got much tougher with a minus tide. When the day came to a close we had three surfers who made it all the way to the Final of individuals, while several others had some great heats before getting knocked out.
