Salsa Surf Competition to Raise Money for Battle Against Lou Gehrig's Disease
Saturday's event at the Huntington Beach Pier is for surfers of all abilities.
Surfers from throughout the Southland will be taking over a popular surf spot in Huntington Beach on Saturday for the SALSA competition.
The annual Surfers Against Lou Gehrig's Disease Surfing Alliance event helps raise funds for the ALS Association. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, commonly known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, is a neuromuscular disease that can strike anyone without warning. Funds raised from the contest will be used to help find a cure for the deadly disease.
The amateur competition, which takes place on on the south side of Huntington Beach Pier, features several divisions for boys, girls, adults and "virtual' surfers.
