Surf Team Boys League Finals and Awards

Editor's note: The following information was submitted by Laguna Beach High School coaches Alisa Cairns and Scott Finn.

The Boys High School Surf Team League Finals were held on Tuesday and moved from Upper Trestles to Salt Creek. The waves turned out to be firing and it was a beautiful morning. Unfortunately it was a struggle for most of our guys having to deal with the non competitors out amongst the contestants!

In the first round we had some very good performances put in from Freshman Colton Bryant, Senior Nathan Kravitz and Junior Shane Chapman. All three surfers advanced to the Quarter Finals before being eliminated. This concludes most of our season, although we will have a couple more Scholastic Surf Series events after the new year!

Thank you to the Hamilton's for hosting our wonderful banquet. We awarded Most Valuable awards to Cameron DePfyffer who was also one of the scholar athletes with over 3.75 and Marlee Grosher Most Valuable, Top points Sector 9 award to Shane Chapman, Most Improved Nathan Kravitz and Dylan Davis, Coaches Awards to Connor Brashier and Erik Siegrist, Rookie of the Year Jack Dickerson and Cayla Henderson and Most spirited to Preston Rogers, who also was a Scholar athlete along with Kira Hamilton who was also a Scholar Athlete.

I know I may be missing a few other Scholar athletes and I apologize for not having the info in front of me,  you are all amazing! We hope you all have a wonderful Holiday and Happy New Year full of Surf! We have really enjoyed the team this year, and appreciate the 100% effort everyone put in.

Thank you to the Team, the Parents, the Sponsors including Billabong for the uniforms and everyone else that supported the team!
