Why go: Jason Feddy, Laguna Beach's guitarist-about-town, performs pieces from his Bard-inspired Shakespeare's Fool production, accompanied by John Gardiner and guests as part of the city's Sunset Serenade series.

PUSS IN BOOTS

Why go: The Aliso Creek Inn is back hosting its annual free summer movie nights, with grass seating (bring your own blankets and chairs), popcorn and candy for the kids, and a bar and grill for the parents. (B&G opens at 7 p.m.; movie starts at 8 p.m. or whenever it gets dark enough.) Tonight's flick is the animated Puss In Boots, a Shrek spinoff that we haven't seen, but a whole lot of other people did when it cleaned up at the box office last fall. Enjoy, but remember, no outside food or drinks allowed.

BIRDING HIKE

Why go: Recreate your favorite scenes from last year's Steve Martin/Jack Black comedy The Big Year—or not, since only seven people saw it. But you can still get up early and spot local native and summer resident birds, with Laguna Canyon Foundation volunteer naturalists on this moderate 2-mile hike over uneven terrain through one of the most diverse plant communities in the United States.
