Main Beach Playground Talks; Swim Lessons Going Swimmingly ...

Main Beach Playground Equipment Replacement Q & A Sessions - City staff will be holding two informal question and answer sessions to discuss the replacement of the Main Beach playground equipment, scheduled for construction in Fall 2012. The sessions will be held at the Main Beach playground site on Wednesday, August 1 at 9:00 a.m. and Thursday, August 2 at 3:00 p.m. 

Summer Swim Lessons - The City’s swim lesson program is off to a great start. So far 345 participants have already completed lessons.  There are three more sessions left so there is plenty of time to get into the summer fun!  For more information on the program or to register, go to www.lagunabeachcity.net and click on “Recreation Activities” or contact the Community Services Department at 949-497-0716 ext. 6.

Levies Discontinued for Two Assessment Districts 95-5 - Levies were discontinued for Assessment Districts 95-5 (Legion, Short, El Camino Del Mar and Los Robles) and 95-2 (Ocean Vista, Driftwood and Marilyn).  The 102 homeowners in these districts will save from $580 to $956 per year beginning with their 2012/13 property tax bills. 

Main Beach Lift Station - The connection to Edison power is scheduled for July 27; testing of the lift station will begin immediately thereafter by recirculating clean water for several weeks.   The testing will include addressing failure simulations as well as our emergency bypass pumping connections.  Testing will continue until Staff is confident that the lift station is in perfect operating condition prior to being placed in service.
