Laguna Beach City manager John Pietig's weekly update:

Summer Festival Transit Service – The summer Festival Transit Service begins this Friday and will run through September 2. One change will be implemented this summer. In 2010 the trolley service was extended to Three Arch Bay, which required that the trolleys go all the way south to the Monarch Bay Plaza to turn around. This summer the trolleys will continue past Crown Valley Parkway to stop and turn around at the Ritz Carlton Hotel. This change is being made at the request of the Monarch Bay Plaza because of people using their parking lot as a park-and-ride lot. The Ritz welcomes this change because of the service that it will provide to their guests. There is also a public parking lot across from the Ritz that visitors can use.

Broadway Beautification Art in Public Places - At its meeting on Monday, June 25, 2012 the Arts Commission reviewed the finalist designs for the Broadway Beautification project. Following presentations by the finalists, the Commission selected a bronze sculpture designed by Cheryl Ekstrom and a stainless steel and fused glass handrail by Marsh Scott. (See photos.) The City Council will review the recommendation at its meeting on Tuesday, July 17, 2012. Images of the proposals are attached.
