Get Out: What To Do This Weekend in Laguna Beach

Drum on the winter solstice, go to Mass, attend a candlelight service, participate in a Eucharist on Christmas or enjoy Chanukah on the beach. The latter features fire juggling, unicycle riding and a surfboard menorah.

WINTER SOLSTICE CELEBRATION

WHERE/WHEN:   at 340 St. Ann's Drive from 6:30 p.m.-10:30 p.m. on December 22nd

WHY GO?  Archaeological ruins suggest that people have been celebrating the solstices and equinoxes for thousands of years. Come celebrate the shortest day of winter at a candlelit service with music and guest speakers. Bring your percussive instruments for a drum circle session. Make and share a food dish with fellow celebrants and bring canned food for NCC's food drive.

CHRISTMAS EVE MASS AND LITURGIES 

WHERE/WHEN:   at 1042 Temple Terrace, Nativity of the Lord liturgies at 4 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., Spanish Mass at midnight, School/Family Mass at 4:30 p.m. all on December 24th

WHY GO?  According to St. Catherine of Siena's website, "One must never forget the infinite graces that flow from the Sacrifice of the Mass which benefit one’s soul." For more information, CLICK HERE.

CHRISTMAS EVE CANDLELIGHT WORSHIP SERVICES

WHERE/WHEN: at 415 Forest Avenue, 2 p.m., 4 p.m., 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. on December 24th

WHY GO?  According to Laguna Presbyterian's website, "A child is born for us...Come worship the Newborn King." Different services will have different musical performances. For more information, CLICK HERE.

CHRISTMAS DAY SERVICE WITH HYMNS AND HOLY EUCHARIST

WHERE/WHEN:   at 428 Park Ave., there are five services on the 25th. For more information, CLICK HERE.

WHY GO?  According to St. Mary's Episcopal Church website, people come to St. Mary's for different reasons, but they stay because, "St. Mary's is a place where the words of Jesus come to life in their lives."

CHANUKAH FESTIVAL

WHERE/WHEN: Main Beach at 2 p.m. on December 25th

WHY GO?  There will be fire juggling, unicycle riding, giant yo-yo spinning, a roving stilt walker and a comical variety show. Plus you can hear and see live Israeli music and dancing, make Chanukah crafts and decorate cookies. Street performer Rusty B. will entertain. Taste the chocolate gelt and hot latkes.
