Get Out: What To Do This Weekend in Laguna Beach

See artwork inspired by England and Ireland, check out skate culture photography, go on a 10-mile mountain bike ride, drum with the full moon or take in a play about the importance of folk music.

VISUAL TALES FROM EIRE AND ENGLAND ... AN LCAD STUDY ABROAD RETROSPECTIVE
WHERE/WHEN: at 2222 Laguna Canyon Road, open Monday-Friday from noon to 4 p.m. Runs Friday through January 21st. Work from this show will also be displayed beginning Monday through March 9 at .
WHY GO? LCAD students traveled to England and Ireland during the summer of 2011. The landscape, people and history of this area inspired these artists to create works in major art media. For more information, CLICK HERE.

SKATEBOARDS+RIDERS+PHOTOGRAPHERS=STILL LIFE WITH WOOD
WHERE/WHEN: at 210 North Coast Highway, Wednesday through Saturday 3-8 p.m. Runs Thursday through January 22. Artist reception from 7 p.m.-10 p.m. on Saturday will include music by El Mysterioso.
WHY GO? Tony Hawk said, "I won't quit skating until I am physically unable." Experience the agony and ecstasy experienced by Hawk and his fellow skaters through photographs by Brittain, Vuckovich, Humphries, Jefferson, Swift, Cassimus and Croft. For more information, CLICK HERE.

INTERMEDIATE MOUNTAIN BIKE RIDE THROUGH LAGUNA COAST WILDERNESS PARK
WHERE/WHEN: (west side of Laguna Canyon Rd.) from 8-10:30 a.m. on Sunday.
WHY GO? The weather should be just right for this 10-mile canyon ride (1,000-ft. gain) with a Laguna Canyon Foundation Mountain Bike Trail Assistant volunteer. The hills will be greening up a bit from the rains of autumn. Registration is mandatory, but free. PRICE: Suggested $2 donation per person, $3 per vehicle for parking.

LAGUNA BEACH FULL MOON LA VIDA DRUM CIRCLE
WHERE/WHEN:  from 7-10 p.m. once a month on the night of full moons. This month, the drum circle will take place Sunday.
WHY GO? Drum circles provide a sense of community through joyful movement. Feel the rhythm, play a drum or other percussive instrument, or just dance! For more information, CLICK HERE

LONESOME TRAVELER: A JOURNEY DOWN THE RIVERS AND STREAMS OF AMERICAN FOLK
WHERE/WHEN: at 606 Laguna Canyon Road. Performances begin Tuesday and run through February 5. Showtimes vary. 
WHY GO? Come hear the Rubicon Theatre Company's tribute to powerful folk songs such as "This Land is Your Land" and "Blowin' in the Wind." Director James O'Neil wrote this piece for six musician/singers to perform. For more information, CLICK HERE.
