A MORNING STROLL TO BARBARA'S LAKE
When/Where: Friday, April 20, 9-11:30 a.m. 18751 Laguna Canyon Rd. Meet at , Little Sycamore Canyon Staging Area/Nix Nature Center (west side of Laguna Canyon Rd., approximately 3.5 miles south of I-5/405.
Why go? Enjoy the outdoors and learn about diverse plant life on this leisurely paced, level, two-mile hike with Laguna Canyon Foundation volunteer naturalists. For ages 8 and up. For more information, call 949-497-8324.

IMAGINATION CELEBRATION
When/Where: Saturday, April 21. 11 a.m.-2 p.m. , 307 Cliff Dr.
Why go? Families will enjoy a fun-filled day of hands-on art projects with green, environmentally-friendly themes. Art projects include Happy Hats, Happy Huts, Puzzle Play, Rain Sticks, and Earth Bags, and participants will take home their finished art. The event will also feature face painting, live performances, complimentary refreshments, and the popular “Art Detective" scavenger hunt game, which encourages careful observation of the art featured in the museum's current exhibitions. RECORD STORE DAY AT SOUND SPECTRUM
When/Where: Saturday, April 21. , 1264 S. Coast Hwy.
Why go? The people behind the nationwide Record Store Day promotion want music fans to support and make purchases at stand-alone record stores instead of simply downloading music on the Internet—and you can do so right in Laguna Beach. Sound Spectrum, which has been around since 1967, is taking part in Record Store Day for the third year in a row. For this year’s event, they'll be selling around 200 items, including vinyl records (both singles and albums) and more exotic offerings like colored, reverse-groove, and laser-etched discs. Many of these are one-time-only pressings, while some are released to independent stores exclusively for Record Store Day, months before being released elsewhere. POTTERY WHEEL WITH NADINE NORDSTROM
When/Where: Saturday, April 21, 9 a.m.-noon. , 935 Laguna Canyon Rd.
Why go? Learn how to throw a pot at the potter's wheel with Sawdust ceramicist Nadine Nordstrom. This three-hour class will teach students the basics in how to work with clay. FESTIVAL OF ARTS PREVIEW 2012—ARTISTS RECEPTION
When/Where: Saturday, April 21, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. , 260 Ocean Dr.
Why go? Summertime is just around the corner, and the Festival of Arts is excited to announce a new exhibit, Preview 2012. Presenting the works of newly juried festival artists, the exhibit will showcase a wide range of mediums including photography, mixed media, sculpture, oil, watercolor and acrylic paintings. The public is welcome to join the artists for a free reception at the Wells Fargo Bank. FAMILY SUNDAY FUN DAY—LAGUNA COAST WILDERNESS PARK
When/Where: Sunday, April 22. , Willow Canyon Staging Area (20101 Laguna Canyon Road, just south of El Toro Road intersection). 2:30-4:30 p.m.
Why go? Families are invited to come play, explore, listen and connect with nature and each other. Laguna Canyon Foundation volunteer naturalist and nature mentor Kimberly Leeds will guide you through nature activities and games to enliven your wilderness awareness. Bring your curiosity! Wear long pants and closed-toed shoes. Hats and water are a must! The terrain will be uneven and steep in some areas; be prepared to get dirty, and get up close and personal with nature!
