Get Out: What To Do This Weekend in Laguna Beach

Partake in a community Thanksgiving lunch, check out a one-man holiday play, buy some organic seedlings, go on a lazy afternoon hike, or visit the Montage's holiday tree lighting.

THANKSGIVING AT NEIGHBORHOOD CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH
WHERE/WHEN? 340 St. Ann's Drive. Buffet-style meal begins at noon Thursday. Food donations will be "gratefully accepted" from 11 a.m. throughout the day.
WHY GO? "All are welcome to partake" in this annual community event. Prepare a dish if you're able, and bring it to share. (Cooked turkeys would be ah-sum if you can swing it!) You can also volunteer to prepare sack lunches. These will be given to folks to take home, if they need them. If you don't have the means to bring a dish this year, you're more than welcome to dine with everyone. “This is, hands down, my favorite day of the year in Laguna Beach,” says Dawn Price, Executive Director of the Friendship Shelter. “People from all walks of life gather together to give thanks for our blessings, and to ensure that all who need the physical and emotional nourishment of a Thanksgiving feast are fed.” For more info,

THIS WONDERFUL LIFE AT THE LAGUNA PLAYHOUSE
WHERE/WHEN? 606 Laguna Canyon Road. Runs Friday through December 24, showtimes vary. 
WHY GO? Come watch James Learning in this one-man show adapted from It's a Wonderful Life. Learning will portray more than two dozen characters! "Share the hope and humor ... " For more information, CLICK HERE.

TRANSITION LAGUNA BEACH SEEDLING SALE
WHERE/WHEN? Lumberyard parking lot next to City Hall. Saturday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
WHY GO: Transition Laguna Beach supports the city's movement towards sustainability and resilience. TLB volunteers have lovingly grown organic vegetable seedlings. Come pick up arugula, herbs, lettuce, peas, broccoli and even herb wreaths for the winter months. For more info, CLICK HERE.

LAID-BACK HIKE THROUGH LAGUNA COAST WILDERNESS PARK
WHERE/WHEN? , James Dilley Preserve (east side of Laguna Canyon Road just north of the 73 toll road). Saturday, 3-5 p.m.
WHY GO? Come and enjoy an easy hike (families welcome) to start off your weekend on a 2-3 mile trail over moderate but uneven terrain (100-foot elevation gain) through a canopy of oaks, past Barbara’s Lake, and back. Led by Laguna Canyon Foundation volunteers. For ages 7 and older. James Dilley Preserve (east side of Laguna Canyon Rd/SR-133, just north of 73 Toll Road). PRICE: $2 suggested donation, $3 parking lot fee.

MONTAGE TREE LIGHTING AND COMMUNITY OPEN HOUSE
WHERE/WHEN? 30801 South Coast Highway. Monday, 5 p.m.
WHY GO? Get in the holiday spirit at the . Listen to carolers, have some hot cocoa and taste some goodies, compliments of the resort. There will also be children's activities, a gingerbread village, and the tree lighting itself. RSVP at MLBRSVP@montagehotels.com or call 949-715-6608.
