Photos: Laguna Beach Boys & Girls Club Visits the SoLag Garden Park

Last Wednesday August 7, a contingent of the Boys and Girls Club spent the afternoon at the South Laguna Community Garden Park.

Garden teacher Michelle Haynes  demonstrated how to set up a vermiculture system, so that red wiggler worms can turn waste into compost and fertilizer.

Nurseryman Ruben Flores helped the group explore the garden, discovering Monarch Butterfly chrysalises, and learning about planting and managing garden plants.

JoAnn Ekblad of Whole Foods Market Laguna Beach presented a check for the garden park fund, the result of the 5% community day held June 19.

The 5% day resulted in nearly $2,000 raised toward acquisition of the Garden Park property. For more information see SouthLaguna.org/garden.
