City Council's Final Plastic Bag Ban Vote Is Tonight

Come to the City Council meeting in-person, or watch it in your jammies on the Internet.

At Tuesday's meeting, the Laguna Beach City Council is expected to, among other things:

  • Hold the final vote on the plastic bag ban, which if passed would take effect on Jan. 1, 2013.
  • Approve the 2012 "Shakespeare in the Park" performance schedule to be held on Friday evenings from June 1 through June 22 at 6:30 p.m. at the amphitheater.
  • Establish the limit on campaign contributions for the 2012 City election cycle.
  • Hear public input on issues related to the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station and determine whether the city council should join the City of San Clemente in expressing concerns about the renewal of the plant license.
  • Adopt the Resolution of Intention to amend the contract between the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) and the City of Laguna Beach.

Also: massage parlors (woo-hoo!), plus the usual grab-bag of approvals of minutes, denials of claims, awardings of contracts, receiving of reports, stuff about stuff, and much, much more!
