City Council, Mickey's Birthday, Biz Workshop

1. Crews that have been working to stabilize the cliff along Pacific Coast Highway north of the city limits are expected to reopen the right lane closure today, the city reported in a memo. 2. The Laguna Beach City Council will meet on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at City Council Chambers, 505 Forest Ave. Read the meeting agenda here.

3. Monday is the official birthday of the OC’s favorite mouse, Mickey. Walt Disney’s creation debuted in “Steamboat Willie” on Nov. 18, 1928.

4. On Thursday from 6:30-8:30 p.m., the city will be hosting the “Open for Business” workshop at the Laguna Beach Community Center, 380 Third Street. Workshop participants will include Planning Commissioners Robert Zur Schmiedeand Anne Johnson, Kristine Thalman Executive Director -Laguna Beach Chamber of Commerceand Monica Tuchscher, Principal Planner for the city.

5. Wanting to quit smoking? You can do it with company on Thursday, the Great American Smokeout sponsored by the American Cancer Society. The society says tobacco use remains the single largest preventable cause of disease and premature death in the US.
