City Council, Smoke Detectors, Holiday Palettes

Events taking place today and this week in Laguna Beach.

1. Daylight Savings Time ended Sunday, so make sure your clock is up to speed and be sure to check the batteries in the smoke alarms at your homes. The Laguna Beach Fire Department also thinks its a great time to make sure you have a disaster kit full of food and water ready, and up to date in the event of an emergency. 2. The Laguna Beach City Council will meet on Tuesday at 6 p.m., 505 Forest Ave. Read the full agenda for the meeting here.

3. On Tuesday from 7-7:45 p.m., the Sunshine Readers National Charity League Volunteers, present pajama story time at the Laguna Beach Library. Pajamas and teddy bears are optional. Punch, cookies, and stickers follow story time. The Laguna Beach Library is located at 363 Glenneyre St.

4. On Thursday the Laguna Art Museum begins its weekend Art and Nature Conference and Festival. Laguna Art Museum, 307 Cliff Dr. For more information, call 949-494-8971.

5. The Laguna Beach Arts Commission is currently accepting palette designs from children ages 5 to 17 who reside or attend school in Laguna Beach. Designs must be submitted on 8½ x 11” paper, in color, within the border of the specified palette template. Selected palettes will be displayed at City Hall throughout December. Designs must be submitted by November
